Many customers choose Verde Springs because they appreciate the clean, crisp taste that comes from drinking water stored in glass. Glass preserves the character of the water without affecting flavor, making it a preferred choice for those who value a more refined drinking experience
Our imported Italian glass bottles bring together exceptional presentation and everyday practicality, offering a premium hydration solution for homes, offices, restaurants, and workplaces throughout Bartlett. For customers who prefer a larger-capacity option, convenient PET bottles are also available.
In 2025, all of Bartlett’s regular municipal drinking water came from Lake Michigan, supplied from Chicago through the DuPage Water Commission. Bartlett retains active wells for emergency use only.
Chicago treats the Lake Michigan source water using coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. Since Bartlett switched to Lake Michigan water in May 2019, the Village reports that its own facility only boosts chlorine as needed before distribution.
The Illinois EPA source-water assessment cited by Bartlett considers Chicago’s surface-water source susceptible to potential pollution because surface water can be affected by environmental conditions. The report notes that Chicago’s offshore intakes are generally far enough from shore that shoreline effects are not usually a factor, although wet-weather flows, river reversals, wildlife, stormwater runoff, marinas, and shoreline point sources can affect susceptibility.
For the 2025 reporting period, Bartlett’s annual report states that the Village’s drinking water met or surpassed all federal and state drinking-water standards. The reported DuPage Water Commission/Chicago data showed no violations for turbidity, barium, fluoride, arsenic, nitrate, total nitrate/nitrite, chlorine, total trihalomethanes, haloacetic acids, combined radium, gross alpha, or coliform bacteria.
Bartlett’s own 2025 lead-and-copper table reports a lead 90th-percentile result of 22.6 ppb, above the then-listed action level of 15 ppb, with 10 sites over the action level. The same table nevertheless marks the result as “NO” under its violation column. Copper was reported at a 90th-percentile level of 0.23 with zero sites over the action level and no violation listed.
More importantly, Bartlett issued a formal Lead Action Level Exceedance Notice on July 13, 2026. The Village says it collected 60 samples between January and June 2026 and that more than 10% exceeded the 15 ppb lead action level. Under EPA rules, crossing that action-level threshold triggers additional system actions; the action level itself is not described by the Village as a universal “safe/unsafe” threshold for an individual home. (Bartlett, IL)
The Village says it is conducting additional lead and water-quality monitoring, increasing lead monitoring, assessing corrosion-control treatment, removing lead service lines, and making pitcher filters available to customers with a known lead service who exceeded the lead limit. Bartlett stated that it hoped to complete lead-service-line removal by the end of 2026. (Bartlett, IL)
Bartlett’s 2025 annual report does not identify a specific communitywide taste, odor, discoloration, or cloudiness problem, so no such condition should be inferred.
The report does document turbidity, which is a measure of water cloudiness and an indicator of filtration effectiveness. The lowest monthly percentage of samples meeting the turbidity requirement was 100%, and the highest single turbidity measurement was 0.29 NTU, with no violation reported.
The report also documents chlorine. DuPage Water Commission/Chicago water showed a highest detected chlorine level of 1.50 ppm, while Bartlett’s distribution data reported 1.3 ppm, both below the listed 4 ppm maximum residual disinfectant level and with no violation. The municipal report does not characterize these levels as a taste or odor problem.
Customer preference for Verde Springs should therefore remain separate from any claim about Bartlett municipal water. Customers may choose premium delivered water for taste, presentation, convenience, or service.
The most important current local consideration is lead associated with service lines and household plumbing. Bartlett’s July 2026 notice says elevated lead levels were found in some older homes/buildings with lead services. The Village attributes the potential sources to lead service lines, lead solder, and plumbing fixtures rather than to the Lake Michigan source water itself. (Bartlett, IL)
Bartlett advises residents concerned about lead to use a certified lead-reduction filter when appropriate, clean faucet aerators, use cold water for drinking and cooking, flush water that has been sitting in plumbing, determine service-line material, and have their water tested. (Bartlett, IL)
The 2025 report also states that Chicago adds a corrosion inhibitor to the water supplied through the DuPage Water Commission to reduce the potential for lead to leach from pipes and soldered joints.
Bartlett’s annual report says the Village has sampled for a series of unregulated contaminants, but the report does not identify PFAS-specific results in the published tables. Therefore, this page does not make a Bartlett-specific PFAS claim.
The report also includes the standard advisory that some immunocompromised individuals, some elderly people, and infants may be more vulnerable to contaminants and should seek advice from their healthcare providers.
Important Note: The information above is based on publicly available Consumer Confidence Reports, municipal water-quality data, and other publicly available sources at the time of publication. According to the Village of Bartlett’s 2025 Annual Water-Quality Report, the municipal water system met or surpassed applicable federal and state drinking-water standards during the 2025 reporting period. However, the Village subsequently issued a Lead Action Level Exceedance Notice on July 13, 2026 after more than 10% of samples collected from January through June 2026 exceeded the lead action level. Water-quality conditions, treatment processes, monitoring requirements, and testing results may change over time. Residents seeking the most current information should consult the Village of Bartlett Public Works Department or review the latest municipal water-quality and lead notices.

Bartlett’s regular municipal supply comes from Lake Michigan through the DuPage Water Commission, and its 2025 annual report stated that the water met or surpassed federal and state drinking-water standards for that reporting year. The report also showed no violations for the listed source-water and distribution-system contaminants.
Lead deserves separate attention because Bartlett’s more recent July 2026 notice reported that more than 10% of samples collected during the first half of 2026 exceeded the lead action level. The Village associates the issue with lead service lines and plumbing materials and has announced additional monitoring, corrosion-control assessment, lead-service-line replacement, and filter availability for certain affected customers. This does not mean every Bartlett property has elevated lead; the Village specifically notes that results can vary by home or building. (Bartlett, IL)
